Summer reading sponsors support a culture of literacy
And we’re off! Summer reading kicked off at Windjammers for Wee Mateys despite the sweltering temperatures. Read your way through the summer for chances to win treats and prizes. Adults are invited to participate in The Summer Read with book groups popping up around town at partner locations. Bring the kiddos in to sign up for summer reading and attend one of the many free kids events throughout the summer. Summer reading wraps up with an ice cream social on August 15!
A very special thanks to our fabulous sponsors who provide all the prizes to keep kids reading over the summer! Did you know Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit? Everything we do is made possible by donors like you!

Children & Library Cards
Children 5 years and up can get their own library card.
Children 12 years and under: we recommend a parent or guardian co-sign on the account in order to be responsible for the replacement/payment of lost or damaged items. However, we allow anyone to get a library card that can provide the information required on the Library’s registration form.
In accordance with our interpretation of Maine State Law, once a minor gets their own library account, our communications about that account are directed to the account holder.
