Earth Day Fest 2026!
April 25, 2026 | 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Join us for an afternoon of love for our planet out on the library lawn! This event is FREE and will include something for everyone! We’ll be joined by amazing community partners for games, crafts, and learning all afternoon.
This year we are joined by amazing community partners Bigelow Laboratory, Boothbay Region Clean Drinking Water Initiative, Boothbay Region Climate Action Team, Boothbay Region Land Trust, Boothbay Sea & Science Center, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Healthy Lincoln County, Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District, Maine State Aquarium, Neighborhood Naturalist, & Pollination Station.
Learn with our community partners!
Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences
Learn about the largest migration (by weight) on the planet! Every day billions of tons of animal plankton or zooplankton descend into the ocean to avoid predators after their nighttime feeding. Design your own plankton to mimic this journey and see how slow you can go! You can also learn about Bigelow Laboratory’s research into plankton and other foundational parts of ocean health.
Boothbay Region Clean Drinking Water Initiative
Make an Earth Day-themed sun catcher with CDWI. We will also have stickers, reusable water bottles, and educational handouts! Plus, we’ll have a water bottle refill station to fill up your new water bottle.
Boothbay Region Climate Action Team
Practice recycling with the Boothbay Region Climate Action Team! We will also have a special coffee filter earth craft and for the adults, we’ll have a large flood map of the local area showing areas that will be impacted by higher Gulf of Maine water levels and tides.
Boothbay Region Land Trust
Get information about the Boothbay Region preserves and learn about our local flora and fauna. Enjoy a touch table filled with natural objects from our region and try your hand at dissecting an owl pellet.
Boothbay Sea & Science Center
Where our hands meet the sea! BSSC invites one and all to join them in creating unique works of art using shells from oysters grown in the Damariscotta River and Casco Bay. Take home a lifelong treasure and a gentle reminder of why we need to take good care of our beautiful oceans!
We promise you will “knot be board”! Some folks say that If you can’t tie a knot … tie a lot! Come learn how to tie a few of the most useful nautical knots using reclaimed lobster pot warp and seasoned dock lines.
Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens
Celebrate Earth Day with Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. Try your hand at nurturing a plant from seed with a family-friendly seed-planting activity that you can take home. Gardens representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the upcoming season. Learn how we plan to bring our mission of inspiring meaningful connections between people and nature, and promote plant conservation through horticulture, education, and plant science to life this year.
Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District
Learn about the many resources Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District offers—including technical assistance, adult education, youth programming, and more. We will give out soil test kits, free wildflower seed sample packets, information about invasive species, and other resources helping residents and visitors alike understand Maine’s natural resources they impact and enjoy. We also offer an Invasive Forest Pest cornhole game — come see how many points you can get!
Neighborhood Naturalist
We’re excited to join Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library’s Earth Day Fest for another year! Test your bird knowledge with puzzle races and trivia at our table. Also, help us fill in our Boothbay Harbor bird count and learn more about our local bird species.
This event is not sponsored by the municipality of Boothbay Harbor, nor does it necessarily represent the values and opinions of the Board of Selectmen or the community at large.
