Join us for an Author Talk with Maine author Edward Judd to discuss his book of stories, Three Music Stories From Maine.

You may recognize Ed Judd from his many appearances with the Hallowell Community Band in the summer on the Library Lawn.

Three Music Stories From Maine is a collection of three novellas. The main character in each story is or will become a music teacher.

Soulmate Lost: Phillip, as a young child through his adulthood, has a recurring  dream about a girl that he comes to regard as his Soulmate. It never  occurs to him that he may meet her in real life.

Whitecaps of Evergreen Lake: Evan, a music teacher, wants to buy the family cottage on Evergreen  Lake from his stepmother. His plan becomes more complicated when his  teaching position is jeopardized due to budget cuts, as well as dealing  with a familial crisis.

Transitions of a Band Director: At first, Eric has to make changes in his teaching style due to  COVID. He realizes his declining health problems are causing him to make  major adjustments in his life, and those life changes do not coincide with his love for teaching.

In creating these stories,Judd drew upon the experiences and observations of his 46 years in music education. In a way, the stories mirror to a degree his personal sense of place and profession.
