A Good Ending: Rituals of Remembrance and Release @ The Congo Church

October 29, 2026 | 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Part of The Final Chapter, a series on Death & Dying

This program will take place at the Boothbay Harbor Congregational Church; 125 Townsend Avenue Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

Join us for a non-denominational exploration into why rituals around death matter, and what gets lost without them. Drawing on years of pastoral experience, Todd Weir, pastor of the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor, will explore various ways people say goodbye at the end of life and share reflections on what has made these moments meaningful for the families he’s walked alongside. The conversation will also open a window to practical questions: What should you know before you plan a remembrance of memorial service? How do families navigate differing wishes? Participants will be invited to share their own experiences and reflect on what kind of remembrance they’d want for themselves.

Rev. Todd Weir is the pastor of the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor UCC.  He has served five congregations over 35 years of ministry, and presided and many kinds of funerals, graveside service and celebrations of life.

This program is organized by the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor.
